At least some people favored oversize tires back in the day, while Judge Corley settled for oversize feet.

Me too! Coupla nice pics of '13s, and the one of the runabout converted to P/U shows the current P/U kits look to be pretty authentic in my bad eyes! Makes me wanna get another runabout to convert.

Once again; totally interesting pictures of era Model T s. Don’t know how you do it Tom but much appreciated. And 2 adults sitting on the hood !? Must be > 200 pounds! The disabled man in the ‘14 touring: might he be a WW I veteran in a 5-7 year old T. And handling spark, gas and steering wheel with a Hook ?

The leaf spring on the car with an electric starter appears to have 12-13 leaves. To my eyes, the leaves look thinner than stock.

The handicapped man picture I can see a foot feed for the throttle. I can’t see any thing for the timer. If I had to guess it probably has a starter. Great photos!

From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quentin_Durward_Corley
Judge Quentin Durward Corley Sr.:
(January 21, 1884 - April 22, 1980) was a Texas circuit judge.
On September 18, 1905, in Utica, New York he was in a railroad accident and lost both hands and one arm and shoulder. Within two years he invented and patented an artificial limb.
He went on to study law in the offices of Muse & Allen in Dallas, and in 1907 passed the Dallas County, Texas bar. In 1908 he was elected to the office of justice of the peace, and his service in that capacity was of such a character that in the campaign of 1912 he was elected a county judge.

I was surprised to find about him on the first try! The Judge proves my theory that a Model A is for those who can't drive a TGeorge House wrote: ↑Wed Oct 26, 2022 6:23 pmThanks for the research and info Richard. A railroad accident, huh ?!!! Tons of crumpled steel acting on flesh and bone![]()

Re: Look!! now you’ve got that all screwed up!!!
I’m wondering how the black era T Touring (low cowl) got its front end bowed out. Could it have hit something that caught the front axle while it was being driven? The radiator doesn’t look damaged. Interning photo along with the rest!

The third photo of the tourer shows an English dropped front axle. It is left hand drive, but there were LHD T's in England while they figured out how to get the RHD steering column past the generator.

So pleased to see a few smiling faces in that bunch of photos. Generally, they are so very serious

Re: Look!! now you’ve got that all screwed up!!!
Many of the older cameras were time exposures. Later films were developed which made snap shots possible. With a time exposure, if anyone moved or did not hold their mouth still for a few seconds, would blur the picture. Of course, many cameras made only one shot at a time. Later they used rolled film which had 6 pictures a roll then the film needed to be developed and printed. So it was quite expensive to take pictures and they didn't want to waste it.
With snap shots, the film was exposed for a shorter period and they used to say "Cheese" and the shutter was snapped and got the smile.
Now with digital cameras we take many pictures and save the ones we like best. A big difference.

Re: Look!! now you’ve got that all screwed up!!!
A Model T is hard enough to drive with two fully functional arms and hands. Imagine how hard it must have been with a half functional arm and a barely controllable hook. Someone had to rig up the car for him so at least he had some good friends to help him. I hope life was not too hard on him and he had a good woman to bolster his spirits and give him a family. Apparently the judge was involved in some kind of railroad accident at about 20 years of age. He was very lucky to have survived such trauma in that day and time. He went on to live to 96 years of age.

He had good genes for longevity; both of his parents also lived into their 90’s.

The old fella in the 6th picture is a U.S. Marshal. I believe he was from Missouri. I lost the information I had on him. Look close at the photo and you can see his badge on his shirt.

Re: Look!! now you’ve got that all screwed up!!!
The '13 T in the sixth picture is interesting for the thick-line striping on the body and the fact that the color on the hood, fenders, splash aprons, running boards and wheels is different from the body.
