Veterans' Day Parades

Post by DLodge » Sat Nov 05, 2022 4:43 pm

Instead of just photos from our parade in St. Louis, I figured I'd start a thread an d anyone can add to it. We had our parade in St. Louis this morning. Chilly and very windy, but dry.

It's nice that you guys have one. Can't remember when there was a Veterans Day parade in my neck of the woods. And we even have a large veterans hospital/nursing home facility right in our backyard. Sad.

Ours here in San Jose CA. is also on Friday, Veterans Day, as it should be. And that should be without question, a National Holiday, no ifs ands or buts!!! Where would we all be without our hero veterans? Most of you don't think of yourselves as Hero's, but the fact is, all you military veterans are our National Hero's!!

Like Scott said...I agree also. Our group, while at lunch today on our tour, spent a lot of time discussing that very thing. And if course today is "Happy Birthday" to the U.S. Marine Corps.! 247 years and going strong. God bless them and all our military for our freedom that so many of us take for granted.

Wusses !!.. Our local Vet Day parade scheduled for 0900 today was canceled by ‘organizers’ due to prognosticated rain showers around 1900 today in our drought stricken county 😞.. they must not have spent a monsoon season in the jungles of Panama or a winter in the mountains of Bosnia 😡 Anyway, heres a promised picture of remembrance of my compadres.

I understand the sentiment, but the parade in St. Louis is always the Saturday before the 11th. The reasoning, I am sure, is that more people can (and therefore will) go downtown to watch a parade on a Saturday than can (or will) turn out on a work day. Even then, the parade draws far fewer these days than it used to.
