[i recently purchased a 1914 Model t Touring in good unrestored condition and looking forward to participating in the forum in the future.. This is my thirteenth Model T over the past 66 years. i purchased my first T a 1924 Roadster in 1956 for $50.00 and drove it 5 miles to my home.list][/list]

A search of “Fred Serfass” in Pottstown, PA shows a Fred Serfass, at a young 90 years of age. Welcome Fred. I admire your dedication. We could all do well by following your example. I look forward to learning from you and hearing the many stories you must have regarding your experiences with your Model T’s over the years. If you were born in 1932, you were around 24 years of age when you got your first Model T. Did you have someone with you to show you how to drive it? I was 16 when I bought my first Model T in 1970. I've know Fred for a long time. He found my 1925 Roadster last month which is my first T. Having been an A owner for 60 years I thought it was time for a T. By the way, I still have that same A.

Thank you for your kind welcome. I am 90 years old, my wife and I have been married for 70 years. I courted her in a 1930 Model A roadster. We currently live in a retirement community. We have owned many antique motor vehicles of various makes over the years but I have always had a soft spot for T's and A's. Our son Mark, another antique vehicle enthusiast found the 1914 Touring in the area recently and told me about it and the urge to own it overwhelmed me as it has so many times in the past. It is in quite good, mostly original condition. i call it my "tinkering' winter project and I spend an hour or two each day improving it which is all I can handle at my age. i will keep you posted as I progress.

what a great story! And great for you and your wife!

My dad's 91 and putters on his 2 T's for about 2 hours/day, too. Great mental and physical therapy. He says that any time he's having a down day, the T's perk him right up.

In reply to jiminbartow. i purchased the 1924 Roadster in the Spring of 1956 and i was not quite 24 at the time. i heard that this elderly gentleman wanted to sell his "T" that was his only transportation up to that point except for the winter months when he jacked it up and a local repair garage maintained the battery over the winter. His family finally convinced him to give up driving and sell the car. I remember going to the garage and picking up the battery and we installed it. He gave me driving instructions and I drove the T 5 miles home nearing upsetting it going a little to fast turning in my driveway.

Again, Fred… welcome (or should I say welcome back) to the wonderful world of Model T’s. You will find a lot of nice, helpful, like minded folks on the forum, many of which might live close to you. Don’t hold it against Moxie. He is a really great guy who shares our love of Model T’s and the forum. It’s just that most people are ready to throw in the towel when they reach a certain age, but you are still going strong, so you are such a refreshing example and an exception to the norm and will definitely be an asset to this forum with your experience and memories going back to the days when Model T’s were still plentiful on the roads and a commonplace sight to see. You sound like the type who embraces life and runs with it, never allowing age to get in your way. Keep it up. Jim Patrick.

I will post pictures of the 1914 touring when all that I plan to do is completed. i want it to remain unrestored but presentable as a driver. i appreciate the interest club members have shown in the car.

Dude, Really ? I lost my Model T mentors just a few yrs ago, one age 99 and other 98. They both started their T hobby in the early 1950’s. Matter of fact, I own a 27 Roadster that the 99 year old guy bought in 1954 ! Oh and I may I add.. they both were able to drive a T very well at those ages !
