What size would the belt on a 1924 model t with a water pump be? What is the best type of belt?

Put a string around your pulleys and measure the string. Belts are listed by length in the catalogues. For a show car you need leather. For a driver a regular neoprene/fiber belt will last longer and cost less.
The presence of the aftermarket water pump suggests that your radiator may no longer radiate as it should. The ideal goal is to have a well functioning radiator and ditch the pump. But that requires significant shedding of dollars, so you may want to put it off while building up a radiator fund.

Use Steve's string method to size a belt. There were probably at least 100 different water pumps available for Model T's. The size of belt you need depends on which one you've got. I like to use the modern poly-V style serpentine belts. I run the V'd side towards the pulleys. They last forever and give a good grip with fairly light tension. Try to get one as wide as possible, (that still fits between the pulley flanges of course).

I wouldn't be too quick to remove a water pump on a TT.
