Making and installing a fat lady truss

I have a spare tire on my driver side running board. Recently I discovered the left side of the front running board support is cracked. I can weld it but I thought some extra support would come in handy. I see a commercial “fat lady” running board truss for sale but purchase price plus shipping to alaska seems excessive. From the crummy pictures, it just looks like a piece of angle iron with four holes and some longer bolts, all of which I can buy in town.

For those of You who have installed these, is that all it is? Also can you /should you run them on the front and back brackets?

Something lightweight and rigid, like 3/4 X 3/4 square tubing, would probably work well. I'd space the bolt holes on the braces about 1/8 to 1/4" over the measurement between the factory bolt holes, and put spacers through the bolt holes to prevent the tubing from crushing when the bolts are tightened. I'd put them on the front and back, and make sure that nothing would contact them, like the driveshaft, if the car was to be lifted off the ground.
