Tire iron
I believe I just picked up a set of irons. Can someone please post measurement’s? I’m on the road right now and can’t measure these.

Re: Tire iron
Tire irons come in different lengths. Are yours used or new. If new what brand are they or where did you buy them.

Re: Tire iron
Quite used. Not ruined. In fair shape. Laughed out loud when the seller said they’re so small. I’m guessing about 12” or so long X maybe 3/4 or 7/8” wide. The ends are slightly curved. Of course no markings.

They're a display-only item. They make changing a clincher the job from Hell.

NG I guess. The ends of these don’t flare like that.

Re: Tire iron
I have to say the originals are nice for T tool collectors BUT Ford needed a better idea for tire irons. The Harbour Freight iron or something similar really do work better in a tire changing situation.

Re: Tire iron
Steve"s photo shows them well. Some Canadian ones come with a raised Ford script and the factory number.
My recent fitting of a set of nice pliable Blockley tyres could probably have been done with T tyre irons
Perhaps Henry knew what he was doing, if old time tyres were as pliable.

Re: Tire iron
I have three tire irons, which came from my father's garage in the 1920s and 1930s. Two measure 16 inches in length and one measures 17 inches. I threw out the longer ones that were made from leaf springs.
I don't know how to post the pictures that show the very slight hook or bend at the end of each tool.

Re: Tire iron
Tough to see in my pic but the ends are curved slightly in opposing directions. Exactly what you’d expect in a tire iron..

Re: Tire iron
It's rare that I have to resize a picture. I post picture files full size and the website makes them fit. Very rarely I get the dreaded yellow triangle telling me the file is too big. I find that if I ignore the numbers given in the warning and just reduce the size by one pixel, that works. Why do some files need to be resized but most don't? Beats me. Why does a one-pixel reduction work? I have no clue. Of course, I'm working from a computer.A "mobile device" may be completely different.
Just for fun, here's a 4 MB file (3648 x 2736 pixels) posted without resizing.

Re: Tire iron
I have a set of H-F 24" tire spoons. Only use them on truck tires ( because I only have two good truck tire spoons ) Just mounted a 450-21
today and used the 10" & 12" Showa spoons that I picked up from a swap meet ( two of the 10" are from the first new Yamaha I purchased in
1970.) I think they work best because of the short little curve on one end. they don't seem to grab the tube as much as the bigger ones.
I don't think I have ever paid more than a dollar each for the rest I have. I know they are not period. I don't care when I have to change a
tire by myself
Craig.

Re: Tire iron
When I was in high school starting out working on my own car, a 68 Cougar, my dad gave me a handful of old tools. 40 years later, I buy my 26 Touring and discover the tool I've beaten on all these years and used to hold the front strut studs on my 2 Fox body cars (86 Capri and 89 GT) was actually a T tire iron!
Still have a 68 Cougar, btw.
