1914 new upholstery kit and springs questions

I have a new Uphostery kit from Langs I had ray, Wells rewood the body and there were no springs when I got the car i believe the back rest looks weird compared to most springs I've ever seen the top of the Spring has sharp edges on the end and I don't know if I am supposed to staple the top down against tack strip , or leave it loose nothing in the instructions says anything about it. I will try to send a picture of the spring, did not work,to show you what I mean, but should it be secure on top like it is on the bottom I would appreciate it if someone has done this I found this problem before would let me know. Could you post a picture of the spring and of the body where you want to attach the spring? Hard to understand what you mean by sharp edges. Do the instructions from Lang's describe the situation? I know that some seat springs, that is the one which goes flat at the bottom have an edge that you crimp around the upholstery. Would you by any chance have the seat spring confused with the back rest? It has been a long time since I upholstered a T but it seems to me that there were some straps to pull the top of the spring back toward the body which held the top closer and then the upholstery went over that.

Neither of my T's have factory uphostery so I have no expiriance with it and realy can't help
him much. Any help you and the rest of the forum can give him will be greatly appreciated. I believe he purchased the spings & upholstery
Kits from Lang's. So they are not the original springs. Thank you all so much.

Are there any markings on the seat kit that shows the original supplier to Lang's? If it's Classtique, you can contact Mike at Classtique directly for assistance.

I think Snyder's makes the springs that all of the vendors sell, so you might try contacting Snyder's to confirm you have the correct springs.

Hi Guys,
Wayne is still stumped on this. He contacted the MFG and talked to the guy that makes the springs. Unfotunetly all he does in make the spring
to a pattern and has never installed them. Does the metal strip at the top get nailed, screwed or clamped to the wood ? On it or under it?
I can't imagin it just sits there? Thanks.

I can't speak specifically on 1914s, but on later year cars the rear seat back springs were hung with strips of seat material looped around the spring and tacked to the wood sill, like this:

I want to thank everyone for thier help on this. Especially Steve Lang. Even though the spring & uphostery kit may not have been purchased
from Lang's. He called to see what he could do to help out & came up with the info that will get this project moving forward.
Thanks Steve that was above & beyond, and shows how much our venders are willing to go to support the hobby.
