When can you tell it’s time to replace wooden transmission bands?

Like other linings, when the adjusting screw has compressed the band spring, and you can't get low to pull the T up that rise!

Here is a wood low band lining, that gave out it's effort, spring was drawn up rather fully on the low pedal shaft.Maybe there was more life left, but time IMO to change. You don't really want to change linings during a long tour!/b]

Look of wood low pedal lining after removal, compared to brake lining above, (R-M Brakes so little wear) and reverse lining below.
