#4 arrived home on Wednesday.

Post by YellowTRacer » Mon Jul 03, 2023 12:49 am

I should have posted this on Wednesday, but had too much catching up to do and am still not done. For those that might have been concerned, Karen and I, and old #4 arrived home on Wednesday. Regarding my two partly bald rear tires that made for good conversation, and I kept saying, "they'll make it home alright". Well, my conscience finally got to me late Saturday night, before heading home departure time on Sunday Morning and so I called Bill Devine (Birdhaven) before he headed home, to request a couple of 30 X 3 1/2 tires, and Mike Vaughn's phone number for a place to change them. Bill had both and said "I'll call him for you". About 10 minutes later Mike called and said "c'mon over, I've got a full set of new tires and all the tools. By 11:30 AM we were heading West out of Lincoln Nebraska towards California, and arrived home Wednesday night. We had a great time. Fun trip! Thanks all for the good wishes.

Hi Ed & Karen,
Glad to hear you made it OK, you are the only people I know that will drive a speedster all the way across the states to go to a 200 mile event.
You are both very inspiring. Thanks.
Craig.

My experiences with bald tires far from home tell me you decided right. I had one blow out on the way to Detroit last year, and on the way home the ancient spare I was running scared me into having Lucas send a new tire to George's in Missouri for me. Lizzy is getting new rubber all around before I make another trip.
The inevitable often happens.
