That's an amazing photo considering the film speeds of that era.

I ran across this one today - taken from Red Bluff... later i nthe eruption.

Note the car in the semi-foreground.

BTW - the car in the first photo (with the little plume from the volcano) was the photographer's car, and was shot at the very beginning of the eruptions, which lasted 2 years. Their visitor center (& gift shop) has copies of this photo and a neat history of the volcano eruption.

Lassen is a wonderful park. Have gone on a couple tours there and it is not to be missed.
