Can anyone tell me what year did the acetylene generator go from all brass to painted black? I thought it was by 1913, but wanted to ask.
Thanks,
James

James,
Painting with a broad brush, yes, 1913 is correct. That being said, there are always some examples of carry over with some brass hardware, lamps, etc. especially if the car was assembled at a branch location.

Re: What year acetylene generator?
As Keith said generally speaking. Over the years I have seen “supposedly” original car with a combination brass and steel configuration more often with Victor generators. I would imagine that it was possible up until they ran out of in house product. I don’t know exactly in 1913 when they were made all steel with the exception of brass fixtures on the generators.

Good question since Ford horns and lamps had begun to transition to Black and Brass by mid 1912. Does this mean that Black generators were also being furnished at this time?

Scott really good question, I have a B block October 1912. It has the Victor (1) headlights & sidelights including that funky Victor taillight. Victor generator black & brass but the top was painted black.
