Alpine, Texas 1920
What was this Model T used for in its work? It appears to have rails on the top for luggage and the driver might be wearing a bow tie. Jitney from the railroad stop to a hotel? I love old pictures of Alpine, Texas and the juxtaposition of Main Street and beginning of Sul Ross College on the hill behind town. The modern looking college building on the hill is not photo shopped and is still there today..

It looks like it might be a Hearse or some type of funeral home vehicle. Maybe?

The big building on the hill is the Sul Ross Normal College which opened its doors in 1920. I agree on a Jitney Bus. perhaps to a hotel or maybe to the College.

A Normal" college is a two year college. This school, at first turned out teachers with a two year degree. In 1925, this school added two more grade levels and became a Teachers College with a four year degrees. My father, in Minnesota, started teaching with only one year and finished summers to receive a two year teaching degree. He want on to obtain a four year degree, then a six year degree and then a PHD.

The Jitney could be new with starter and demountable wheels. The fronts look more substantial that 30 x 3s. It would be interesting if we could read writing on the side of the body.
It certainly is a pleasant photo.
I believe the building is the administration building at this point.
