The early accounts would appear that Ford was setting up a proprietary shop repair network. Ford publications aimed at owners warned about using counterfeit, non-approved parts.

Some aftermarket Ford parts were made by the same manufactures that made parts for the Ford Company.

Heres a Ford dealer service truck. Take a look at the jacks on the running board. Are those extensions of some sort with them? Interesting street location name too!
