Simms-Huff starter generator unit application ?

Post by Gene_French » Wed Oct 11, 2023 10:58 am

i have a Simms-Huff starter/generator unit that i am unable to identify the vehicle application ? this seems to be suited for a small engine ... or it may have been geared at a low drive ratio ? i am experienced with the much larger Northeast units that were used on the Dodge Brothers 4 cylinder cars ... hope the pictures help identify ... possibly someone can use this unit ! always an optimist ...Gene French
will have to re-size photos ...will add later today

Looks like Simms-Huff starter/generator/lighting system was standard on 1915 and later MAxwell. Anything like these?

Rob:
that is exactly the unit ... i had been told that this may be a Maxwell unit ... this was with a mixed batch of engines and parts that i purchased in a "pile" at a farm auction 30 years ago ... i think i have been able to re-size photos and will post them here ... thanks for the info. and the advertising images ...always an optimist ...Gene French
