I made room in my garage for a friend to store his new Porsche while he was moving. I left my Runabout outside for the night and then went to the coast. When I returned the next day, I discovered we had an ugly T storm hover directly over my beloved T. Some estimates on hail diameters where golf ball size. While I’m not sure if this is the original top, it’s at least 65 years old.
I guess the adage “ no good deed goes unpunished “ applies to me in this case. In hindsight, even a tarp Thrown over the top may have saved it.

A Porsche owner should be able to afford to buy you a new top without any trouble, shame though to see an old one destroyed. In my opinion I would leave a Porsche outside and park a T inside, but some people think more highly of Porsches than I do, I suppose.

i find it interesting how many of these cars spent decades outside and show no hail damage of the hood or exposed metal.

Time to get out needle and thread. That is what was done in the era. Consider it adding patina to your car. There is a product to keep the stitches from leaking but its name escapes me. Or try some melted tar.

Golf-ball size hail would have left the Poesche looking like it had been worked all over with a ball-pein hammer. You're a good friend ! Your friend should realize your kindness saved him thousands in body work, and gladly buy you a new top. Barring that, if it were mine, I'd patch it. It still looks mostly sound.

It's not a Ford top judging by the rear windows, and I think it's way older than 65. The top on my '13 is 60, and it's still in good shape, but showing it's age.

Let me get this straight, you:
a. allowed a d-c Porsche to enter your garage
b. Allowed same to be stored/parked there,
c. a and b forced a non-d-c car outside and into harms way ?
This is just a straight-up no-go from the word "Porsche". I am rather shocked
