Texas T Alternator instructions

I’m trying to help a long distance newby friend with removing a Delco gear driven Texas T alternator that needs checked out. While for the most parts it works pretty darn good, periodically it has charging issues. Texas T used to have some nice downloads for their stuff, but I can’t seem to find a downloadable installation and removing instructions to send him. I know Birdhaven bought them a few years back but I didn’t realize all those free down loads were gone. Any help would be appreciated!

What that photo is trying to tell you is the brown wire from the alternator is controlling the current output on the yellow wire and has to go to a switch that turns off that voltage when the engine is not running.

The yellow wire goes directly to your battery via the ammeter.

If that voltage is not removed, your battery will be totally discharged in about 8 hours.

Well I'm not familiar with this Texas T thing but I do know the one I got from Snyders only uses the one yellow wire connected to it's top post much like a generator. It took all of 5 minutes, 10 tops to get rid of the defunct generator and put the alternator on. So glad I made the choice.

I have had this same alternator for about 20 years almost trouble free. If connected straight to the same wire as was used by the generator, after a period of time, say 6 weeks of sitting idle, mine will discharge the battery completely. I have since installed a small 30 amp relay that opens the wire connection to the battery to prevent drain. Problem solved.

Again, not familiar with that type of alternator, but mine never drains the battery down. You got something wrong with that model.
