Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet

"World's Largest Early Auto Meet"
"1895-1945" Come Celebrate the 1st 50 Years of the Automobile
Let’s really try to make this a great event, encourage folks to attend and to vend. If you have contact with other old car clubs & of course Model T Clubs get them interested in making this event. Let’s be part of solution in reinvigorating this important swapmeet. Looking forward to seeing you there.

We’ll be there. Wouldn’t miss it. We always do very well selling and usually find something you’d never expect.

John,
It is not booked yet, but on my calendar. I will probably be on site on Saturday. Would you like me to bring your acetylene generator?

I plan to be there with literally tons of Model T iron to sell, plus rebuilt coils and lots of tall tales to tell. Come swap lies and parts. You might even find something you need.

John:
thanks for posting this Chickasha notice ... just a few years ago the postings for Chickasha were made daily ... i had wondered if anyone would post anything this year ... i continue to look for Masonic principal officer memorabilia ( auto related from teens thru mid 1930's )...this may include radiator caps and hub caps with Masonic symbols , license plate toppers are a common example ... That means it is about 400 days before you will have to walk around me as I stumble thru the isles! As I intend to be there 2025 unless something happens past my control.

Mack, IMHO based on your location, I would place Luray as your priority swap meet. Each year Luray is growing while Chickasha seems to be shrinking. As mentioned above by others, I too have been disappointed in buyer attendance, quantity of quality merchandise, and the overall costs to attend Chickasha. Maybe I am remembering it from years prior but below are a couple of pictures of what I purchased almost 20 years ago vs. 2 years ago when I went to purchase. Sadly, while no fault of the Erslands, the ROI is no longer there for me as I cannot afford to drive halfway across the country just for the opportunity to fellowship with friends. I do that on tours.

I understand where you are coming from on that Brent. I just have been couped up close to home because of lower income for a while and next year, things will be a bit better. I am going to luray, and hopefully back to the Henry Ford next year.
The thing is,I am not in "need" of any certain thing at the moment as my project has most of it's parts laying there waiting. BUT you never know.may find that 1 thing I can't live without.

Mack: Listen to Brent. Not sure where you are in NC, but Charlotte is only 5 hrs from Luray. That is almost a day trip compared to Chickasha. You will not believe the parts coming out at Luray. I don’t know when I have last seen a 7 rivet pan for sale at a swap meet, found a nice one there two years ago. VFW puts out welcome mat and a great feed too.
And by the way , top notch ER there too. Dan

X2? Seems like Richmond, VA would be a better choice in avoiding the DC traffic.

i will add some insight here regarding swapmeets and the high cost of shipping and difficulties in locating parts ... several years ago we would see a constant stream of wanted ads. or shipping request for the meet at Chickasha ... this is an opportunity for many hobbyist to gather, buy or trade parts and information ... now is the time to make request for specific parts or transportation of bulky or heavy parts ... many vendors including me will bring pre-paid items to Chickasha for pickup at no charge ... you can often save a bunch of money on shipping ... look forward to seeing old and new friends in several weeks ... i will have my Babbitt tools and linebore units , several aftermarket distributor units , misc. carburators and several magnetos at my spaces in the south building ( SL4-6 ) ...Gene French

Cant say I’ve seen a commercial tire vendor but have seen folks with good, serviceable tires for sale.

I’ll be looking for a good set of Wood Fellow Wheels, I’ll consider everything from used serviceable to rebuilt.

I'm going to sit this year out. 2500 miles round trip 4 nights in hotel food and fuel. Anybody who needs my high compression heads, high volume oil lines, and other parts that I offer will need to contact me and I will ship things out. I also have several high speed TT ring and pinions available that are new.

We will be there again this year. Look for the truck with the rooftop tent on it in the south building. I have a pretty decent load of smaller goodies, a few kr wilson , Stevens, and z-tools. A pair of Laurel lowering brackets. A pair of RAJO style offset spindles. Sorry I can not say what I have as most is already loaded. I'm looking for 1920s 30s era camping gear. If you have anything big or small let me know if you want it pre sold. I'm also wanting a 1920s early 30s original 2 wheel camping trailer. Any condition. Something similar to a Auto-Kamp or ???? See ya'll there ..

We'll be there in our usual spots (NB 6-10) with tables full of $1, $5, $10, and $20 items, as well as a table of 'priced as marked'.

We're also bringing back the 'blue light special'! Every time you see the spinning blue light on at our spaces, everything on the $1 and $5 tables are 2 for 1!
See you there!

I won't have a space this time, but will come down to shop at least one day, IF I can get legal to drive before then. I'm still working on that.

Looks like no rain in the forecast. Sounds like setup is Friday morning this year. Any gatherings on Thursday?

Have not heard about anyone planning on Thursday pre entry lineup. If anyone shows up Thursday they probably will be in the parking lot by the railroad tracks. Entry for vendors is 7:00 am Friday for setup. Then at 10.00 am the main gate opens for general public. Not a real big rain chance but probably will be pretty windy Friday. Temps look pretty good, but remember. This is Chickasha. "Always" bring full blizzard coats and hats. ...

8 am for vendors I believe, 10 am to the public and I guess closing is when most folks have covered their items and headed to the feed trough.

On my way. Overnight in Tucumcari NM. Had everything from rain to snow on I-40, did have a brisk tailwind though. :D

This will be my first time missing the meet in many years. More than the shopping, I will miss seeing old friends. That gives me something to work towards next year. :)

Greetings from Chickasha! I arrived yesterday afternoon. Weather was and is nice, clouds this morning and full sun around noon today. I’ve seen a few pickups and trailers with stuff around town so folks are arriving. I’m we could arrange a few informal gatherings around town today if we want to. Mike
