Order of sheet metal assembly. 26/27 radiator.

Post by signsup » Mon Jan 29, 2024 1:44 pm

Almost e ashamed to ask, I know I have seen it, but a Google search cannot find it, but it may be a Google thing. Can anyone share with me the correct order of assembly for the radiator and sheet metal on a 26/27?
I have no felt washer or rubber pads, just sheet metal.
Fenders
Shelves
Radiator
Radiator shell
Lower front splash apron

I'm presuming fenders first and I need to do some welding and repairs to fendr and don't want to install radiator and hoses and then have to take all off for fender installation.
I know this has been repeated a gazillion times, but, again, I tried to search and could not find it.
Why do we drive on parkways and park on driveways?

A bunch of old cars
Sometimes they run.
Sometimes, they don't.

The drawings for the sequence of sheet metal assembly for your radiator is uploaded on the MTFCA homepage under the resource section under drawings by Vowellart

The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Do you have the Ford Service Manual?

Fenders first, then the hood shelves with the hold down handles already installed, then the radiator studs with the lower springs, bar, and cotter pins, then the lower radiator shield, then the upper stud springs and inner thimbles, put a wedge under the studs to get more exposed threads, then the radiator with the radiator shell already installed, then the outer thimbles, castle nuts, and cotter pins. Dont forget to remove the wedges when you are done.
