1926 Tudor upper door seals

Post by garyl » Thu Jan 11, 2024 7:00 am

I have a 26 Tudor sedan mostly restored. I need the upper rubber that seals the door to the body when closed. I assume that it is the same as the sides but don’t see it for sale. My first T and first T engine and transmission rebuild.

Hi Gary,
I'm finishing my 27 Tudor now. The piece you need is some welting. It attaches to the body, not the door. It's Connected to a thin metal "V" piece which is covered with interior cloth. Classique sells it. I'm not at that point as these parts are rusty and falling apart. When I get there, I'll send you some pictures. John

No seal is used at the top of the door, also there is no welting at the top of the door.

Correct Jeff. There's no seal on the top of the door. There's a rubber "chunk" piece that's a bumper at the top of the door. But there's a thin leather(?) seal in the door frame at the top. I'll try to get it cleaned up and installed and take pictures

Hi Gary,
I've been finishing the interior on the 27 Tudor and got the doorway seal piece finished. The "V" piece of metal has material from the interior (cloth) wrapped around it. The seal is a piece of leather-looking welting tucked into the "V" metal strip which is pushed up on to the steel rib of the body in the door opening. I used my original piece of welting which is not in great condition, but it works for now. If it bothers me, I may change it out later. Note that there is a small metal clip on the "V" piece and this is where the door bumper hits. I guess this was there so as not to wear away the cloth. Here are some pictures as promised:
The "V" metal piece with the seal attached:

I hope this helps!
John
