Bakersfield Swap Meet
Does anyone have details on the swap meet being held at the Famoso Drag Strip on May 4th? I see nothing on the flyer about pre-war cars or parts. Will we just be mixed in with all the modern stuff or is there a pre-war section of the swap meet? This all seems to be very confusing. I haven't called the number on the swap meet flyer yet, thought I would ask here first.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
I received this Jan 8. Pre-War Gentleman,
I attached the Swap-O-Rama application form. Also, click the link below to go directly to the Famoso Dragstrip Website or visit www.famosodragstrip.com and scroll to Swap-O-Rama, the page on the website is active for people to download the form and
look at the map. Yellow spaces #449-503 have been allocated for Pre-War, those spaces have some additional unpaved spaces
behind them for additional parking. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Happy New Year,
Jim

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
Thanks Kim, only 54 total spaces for a pre-war swap meet that's what I call a major downsize! The Auburn Swap Meet in June sounds like the meet to go to. I'll call the race track and get a space for the swap meet and see what happens on May 4th.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
I thought the same, but was assured there was more space available for pre war benders.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
The question for me, now becomes: "Is this worth driving from Tucson for?"
That is a 612 mile trip, over 1200 miles for both legs out and back.
I would like to get more information on just how many pre-war spaces are sold?
I am not driving that distance for a 50 space swap meet that I can cover in 45 minutes. This would no longer be worth the trip. I imagine even the Phoenix people will have second thoughts, as it will be over 500 miles for them as well.
I am afraid I am somewhat disappointed with this. From the original Bakersfield Meet, (which was great!) to Tulare, (Which was still great, especially when held in conjunction with the antique agricultural equipment show), down to this is a big step.
I will wait a while and see what develops, as there is still some time yet. I hope the Pre-war area gets a major expansion, but we'll see.
Could this meet be moved to Laughlin?

When filling out the application for the Swap-O-Rama be sure and indicate pre -war or yellow area. The Famoso Dragstrip web site has a site map yellow is the pre-war area. famosodragstrip.com

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
The Famoso Drag Strip Map confirms they have only a total of 54 spaces for the pre-war crowd.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
I was told by a reliable source they are looking to add more spaces as needed based upon registration numbers received. Already reserved our space. Looking forward to it.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
The “Yellow Zone”, the Brass Era PreWar neighborhood, at the Famoso Drag has 200 additional overflow swap meet vendor spaces directly adjacent to those already allocated to us. Everyone who registers for a space(s) will get them.

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
THANK YOU for that additional information!
That is very important for possible buyers to know before they go.'
Is there any information yet on how many of those additional spaces have been signed for?

Re: Bakersfield Swap Meet
The area set aside has been enlarged to 90+. If those areas fill, there is plenty of room adjacent.
The whole meet has spaces for over 400 spots.
Observation : The Horseless carriage spaces are filling much faster than non.
I got my spot today.
