Kingston model Y or 4 ball carburetor rebuild needed

Post by Simon Henderson » Fri Mar 08, 2024 2:21 pm

Hi guys. Carburetor rebuild question coming up!

I have a RHD 1913 Kingston model Y (4 ball) carburetor that is in dire need of a full rebuild. The carburetor is for my late model year 1912 RHD roadster. My plan was to send the carburetor to Stan Howe a few years ago, but never got around to it, so now very much regretting my procrastination.

The carburetor is complete in all facets, but is worn in all the usual places. I have managed to make a new float for it. I live in New Zealand, but would be extremely happy to send the carburetor to the USA for professional rebuilding.

I have already asked Russ Potter, but he explained that he does not take on international work.

Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated

Thanks Simon Henderson

A great case of "if you snooze, you lose!"

Unfortunately, Russ cannot help you now!

Yes. Exactly that! I snoozed and lost.

Trying to contact Corey Walker, but I do not have his email address etc and do not know his username on mtfca forum to get in contact with. I'm relatively new to using this forum, so not sure how to find people.

Thanks Simon

Everything works in theory.
Reality is how you determine if something works or not.

Simon, my email is wlkma9@gmail.com. I can put a viton tipped needle in there and remedy the problem of the original setup.

Hi Corey. Thanks for your reply. I have sent you an email regarding my Kingston 4 ball. Yes, the Vinton tipped float needle and seat seems the way to go. The whole carburetor is in need of a full and professional rebuild.

Cheers Simon

Simon, I’m not finding it in my regular email or my spam folder. Maybe give it another try, sometimes computers don’t do what they are supposed to. Thanks.

Corey I must apologize, I was sending emails to a wrong email address (wlkma9@aol.com) instead of wlkma9@gmail.com. You should have received them (2) this time.

Cheers Simon
