Damage to flywheel hole for triple gear pin.
Hello, I was just wondering what people's opinions were about fixing an enlarged hole in the flywheel for a triple gear pin. It's a 1923 motor with a starter ring gear. I have a different flywheel ordered, but was curious if anyone ever tried fixing one. The pin is fine but loose in the flywheel, the clutch side of the hole measures about .690 and has a rough groove gouged in it. I didn't see any other damage.

Scrap it and find another. The amount of time to get that far into a model T transmission makes no sense to try and cobble it. That’s cast iron in a high stress area.

When you install triple gears on the new flywheel make sure to allow adequate clearance so the bushings don't seize when they warm up. This happened in my engine - two pins twisted right out, one bushing seized so the gear spun on the bushing. Before you ask, NO, I did not assemble the transmission. In retrospect, I believe the engine was running for a few years with at least one of the pins spinning in the flywheel....

Hi Kevin,
I will bet you can find someone close by that has a extra flywheel. I have found some transmissions that the only thing useable was the flywheel
So there should be some out there. I would not risk trying to repair one & I fix parts that some question my motives & claim I'm just to cheap.
Craig.

" I have a different flywheel ordered,"

I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Just remember the pins push out from the gear side, and new ones go in from the back side.
