One of those frustrating/aggravating jobs on a Model T...

Post by Steve Jelf » Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:09 pm

...for me, at least, is adjusting the third generator brush.

The part that gives me fits is trying to tighten the nut without knocking the brush out of adjustment.
The inevitable often happens.

The insulator has seen "better days" ! If it wasn't so warped, one only needs to loosen that nut very little to move the brush.

Which way is which?. Toward you reduces amp? and away increases? About half the time I get it wrong and have to redo the adjustment./

Amperage increases with rotation - C.W. which is towards engine - decreases when shifted away or towards you.
