High Compresion Pistons
Are all the HC pistons sold by the usual outlets of the same quality? There is a great range of prices.

Call & verify the current price. You are likely seeing a mix of current & out of date prices.

I've had a set of Egge's and a set of Snyder's and Snyder's are so much nicer, its like comparing a diamond to a piece of quartz.

Re: High Compresion Pistons
Hi John,
I run the cheapest ones I can find & have never had a issue. The last set ( wish I could remember which supplier I purchased them from ) seemed
to be a higher dome than the others I have purchased. I didn't take any heads off to confirm but they did look taller than I remember?
I have 3 engines that are .030 over so I buy piston rings for 265 cu.in. Chebies in .030 over for about the same price & then I have a extra set.
If you think about it a T has the same horse power per cylinder as a 5 HP Briggs & Stratton has a smaller bore & stroke & turns twice the RPM.
I you are building a fire breather with a $2,000 crank & rods & a $500 cam. I would go with the more expensive ones. Maybe a set of stock
compression & a aluminum HC head. If you are just looking for a little more compression I'd go with the cheaper ones.
Craig.
