25 touring top material question

Post by NY John T » Mon Jun 03, 2024 3:19 pm

Hi all,
I noticed in an old Mac's catalogue that for touring top material you had a choice of cobra short grain or colonial grain. Anyone know the judging standards for top material for a 25 touring? I have a source for the short grain cobra and will use it if it's not incorrect. Thanks all,
John

Short grain cobra is way off. Colonial is close, Ford Turf is closer.

I just received a 25 Touring upholstery and top kit from Classtique and ordered the top in Turf. Classtique has it.

Don't do business with Mac's. They are the reason Turf grain is now available, because of me and a friend of mine who got it made by Haartz. Haartz couldn't find the original Ford rollers, but turf is the best he could do, and that is what we now have! The best material came from a company in Pasadena, and that is what I have on my '13 touring. They don't have the information on the company that made it any more, but if I had the $$$ I bet I could find out!.

Larry,
Just for grins, I looked up Mac's Antique Auto Parts and their website shows "permanently closed."
Looks like it's a wrap for that outfit.
Gonna miss 'em (NOT).

You can buy Turf grain top material by the yard from Classtique.

My father and I made a top from scratch - not a kit - for his '17 touring. We bought the material from Classtique. We live in Minnesota so we picked it up instead of having it shipped.

Mike at Classtique is a good man. He will sell you the turf grain material.
