I am trying to source a Magneto Coupler (-similar to a Lovejoy Coupler)

Post by BRENT in 10-uh-C » Thu Sep 12, 2024 7:58 am

I am trying to source a vintage looking Magneto-type Coupler that has a 0.750" diameter, keyed-shaft bore on one end, -and a 0.500" keyed-shaft bore opening on the opposite side. At last resort I'll consider using a modern coupler, but if someone knows of a source to purchase one, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Brent look at a TB Woods Sure Flex Plus couplings. Also used by Bell&Gossett pumps. Maybe what you are looking for. Dan

The MATCO side drive magneto front plate used 1” diameter hubs with a short section of fabric reinforced rubber tubing clamped on. Infinitely adjustable, self aligning, authentic, and reliable. Don’t seem to have any pics on my phone but will try to find later…

Restoration Hardware has a brass adjustable coupling that is infinitely adjustable and nicely made. I believe it only has pilot bores in each end, you machine to fit

My father has these available.

He purchased them from Fenstermacher Automobile Supply here in Minneapolis about 70 years ago. Also shown is a clipping from the Fenstermacher catalog.

I believe you can take the six pieces shown and group them in various combinations.

If you are interested, I'll take measurements and ask how much he wants for them.

Do a search for Oldham Couplings.

Erik, that would be great. Feel free to PM me when you have the particulars.

Thank you Jerry, that is another name for those that I was unfamiliar with. I will see what they have.

Brent,
Restoration Supply out in Escondido California, had some made up that were able to be adjusted for timing.
I remember they weren't cheap but may be a solution for your problem,
Hope it helps,
Kevin
