ICE FOR FRENCH SICK AND WOUNDED SUPPLIED BY AMERICA. The American Ice Flotilla Committee has sent several Ice Flotillas to the French front to supply ice for the sick and wounded. The only possible way to have an ice supply at or near the front was through mobile ice making machines, and these were contributed by the organization to the French Medical Corps. The flotillas were placed directly under the orders of the General commanding the Army Corps to which they may be assigned. Each flotilla consists of one ice machine mounted on truck for manufacture of ice, one automobile delivery truck fitted as a refrigerator, and eighty refrigerator boxes holding fifty pounds of ice each.
