Attachment on inside firewall

Hello All, I am new to the T Model world and have enjoyed learning a lot from information found within your forums - thank you very much. I hope that someone can tell me what the green bottle attached to the inner firewall just above the ID plate and to the left of the oil can as seen in this photo. Its a poor picture so I can add another in the near future if needed. The item is a glass bowl with a metal top but has no wires nor hoses attached.

Yes, close-ups from different angles would be better. My first impulse is to say aftermarket accessory, but a closer look might help to ID what it is.

It’s a flower vase. Why on one pillar of an open cab ? Anyone’s guess. Well into the 30’s, it was common to find a pair of bud vases inside closed cars. A touch of class !

Looks like you have a depot hack. Is the piece in question on a swivel? If the cap has a clip holding it on it could be an ashtray but honestly don’t know. Best John

Appears to have an electrical wire running to the top of that round thing, might be some type of bell or signal device.

Need a better photo of that device.

Get down to floor level and take a picture straight on using the flash. Most of the mystery is blocked by the dash.

There are normally a pair of flower vases attached to the columns directly behind the front doors.

Without a better look at it, I think it's one of these glass ashtrays.

That is exactly it, amazing! Thank you. This is a 27 Wrecker that's been in the family for about 45years and I'm bringing it back to life. It has several "oddities" becaause for the life of me I don't understand why it has a Bud Vase and now a ashtray when it doesn't even have doors! Naturally over the course of almost 100 years I'm sure that others applied their on ideas of what it needed.

You guys re wonderful, thank again for the help!

I don’t think the bud vase came with your T wrecker but was added along with the ash tray. As time goes on when learning about Model T’s you will find that there were LOTS of add ons and accessories that came out from the aftermarket folks. It’s great thats you’ve got a T to learn and work on. Good luck with your car and welcome to the T world!

AhAhh that's the answer!!!!!
Since its a glass bowl with a metal top but has no wires nor hoses attached.
Its to hold water for watering the flowers in the bud vase!!! :lol:
