A curiosity!
Cleaning up some stuff for mu swapmeet stock today and I stumbled over this among some other trinkets from one of our USA trips. It is just about the size of quarter

That is a really neat bit of history! Our nation's experiment in legislating a moral issue with a one size fits all fix. No matter what one's views on alcohol consumption or even recreational drugs? Prohibition as it was tried failed miserably.
A few years ago I would have loved to have had that. Right now, I need to not add anything more to my collections. But I sure would like to.

Very nice item!
Prohibition was un-Constitutional on the face of it and we are still paying for that horrible mistake.
Another example of the Supreme Court failing in its duty to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of these United States.

Dad (1921-2009) Told me of a time when he was a young kid. A few of his friends were crying at school on a Monday morning. Their fathers had died Saturday night. There had been a neighbor party after a barrel of alcohol was discovered. It was wood grain alcohol. This was during prohibition of course.

Like many things in history? People often embellish the prohibition era as a big party. Decent hard working men flouting what they considered to be an immoral and illegal law that had been railroaded into the books at a point of time (the ending of the Great War) when they were unable to prevent it.
The reality is that there was a much darker side to the entire fiasco.
Criminal organizations gained great footholds into acceptable society by providing what people believed was their due. Those criminal elements have never been adequately reined in since.
In addition, literally thousands of decent men and women died or were blinded or otherwise handicapped by "wood" alcohol. A simple error by amateur distillers makes a bad mix turn deadly.
As a nondrinker, I know very little about the subject, and certainly have no desire to try it.
However, I do love the history surrounding the prohibition era, and really like that button!
