Not Off Topic, But the sign of a Good Organization.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Dave Carnahan from Concord, CA all because of this club. He drove all the way from California (2400 miles one way) to collect his parts for his 1917 Speedster. We bonded like old friends seeing each other for the first time over many years.

I believe in the true spirit in clubs, not just by the bond of interest in the subject, but the spirit of being human. Another friend found in the journey of life.

I Thank this Club due to it's format! God Speed to All!

Kind words Mr. Lee, I am honored. Many Thanks to you, Patti, Dad and P-Bear for a marvelous visit and education! As some of the Forum readers may know, Hank was kind enough to do some fabrication for a Speedster wanna-be without the proper tools and knowledge to build on. I had bought a Currier Speedster kit and had all of the mechanical overhauls done by Mr. Pete Rich in Forestville, CA. Once the engine, trans, Warford and the rear-end were installed, the project sorta' stalled out. I had a general idea of how I wanted the car to look, but limited tools and know how.

One of the appearance items I was looking for showed up on the club classifieds in January, early Chevrolet drum style headlights for sale by Hank Lee. I contacted him and bought the lights. During our first conversation I asked him about fabricating an exhaust header......Hank said "no problem" and a week or so later sent me pictures of the finished headers....truly a work of art. Over the the following months, countless phone calls and e-mails, Hank presented me with a dizzying bag of options to complete my dream car. Earlier this month I traveled back to Tennessee and met my long lost brother and A goody bag of speedster parts to bring back to California.

I'm home now and the fun begins. I will readily admit my short comings as far as being short of fabrication tools and Model T knowledge, BUT....I'm one hell of an assembler. So stay tuned, I will be publishing project updates on the Forum in the hope that some of the readers will glean a few of Hank's pearls of wisdom.

...some people are like Slinkies....they're generally useless but fun to watch when you push them down the stairs.
