Fun Projects Coil Box and Lang’s Kit

Post by Bmettli » Sun Jan 26, 2025 4:12 pm

Hi all,

Question since Fun Projects is gone. Is the waterproof coil box kit that Langs sells the same as the old Fun Projects one? Thanks

Yes, very similar. Material, machined well and fit is very good. Have used it.

Only the instructions are rather brief schematic drawing, little wording as with the Fun Projects instructions.

And the bits supplied IMO aren't the same, you don't get the Stainless solid end Pop Rivets, or the 'starting' screws that help pre-thread holes in the dense plastic. Found better fasteners at ACE hardware.

Here is the list that was supplied with the Fun Projects.

The description has the necessary details. The box is not wood but is made from a short and water proof material and it pretty much the same type of material that fun projects used. The contacts are a better grade material than the earlier cheap replacements. If you don’t want to use them use the ones that are in your old original box which is really good copper/ bronze and seem to last forever.
Others might want to comment Lang’s coil box set. The short proof wood replacement in fun projects box was what the selling point of their box and well made.
