Starter Field Coils - How to Silver Solder the post bolt

Post by AdminJeff » Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:02 pm

As you may suspect I've installed hundreds of new field coils in the starters I rebuild. How do I get the post silver soldered to the field winding bar and do it without burning up all the insulation? And NO through rod is required when you do it this way. Silver soldered joints do not break free.
They last forever and ae infinitely stronger than regular soldered joints.

Im all about sharing knowledge. It's what makes this hobby so much fun.

Here's my secret. Not exactly what you would think or expect from a spot welder!!! So here's my tip of the day for starter post installations:

A decent SILVER soldered joint that will literally outlast your car.

.
The even better good news is I'm having 1000 new field coils made RIGHT NOW that will have the post pre-installed and will come with insulators, washers, everything needed to install, and they won't be $120 like they are now. They will be around $40 Retail cost at a vendor near you, and that's for EVERYTHING. Samples have been delivered to me and my and other's testing has proven them to be of good quality. A few mods are still needed to get everything perfect before I start selling them. Stay tuned.
