Model T Music -- It's Back! (Opinions Welcome!)

Post by ModelTMitch » Mon Mar 10, 2025 8:05 am

The Internet is changing so rapidly, even I have to scramble to keep up sometimes!
Now that Flash Player is no longer supported by any mainstream browsers, I had to change a lot of the code for my website. What does this have to do with Model T's I hear you ask? Simple, I had to (temporarily) remove the music library from my website until I could re-program it to work in "modern" Internet browsers.

Long story short, I'm inviting you to take a look at the new Music page on my website and tell me what you think! :D

https://www.fordmodelt.net/music.htm

The playback buttons are all fully functional, so take a trip down memory lane and enjoy some Model T music :)

All comments are gratefully appreciated. :)

All of the music on the page is in the Public Domain (most of it is around 100 years old), therefore, not copyright applies.

...With the exception of The Ballad of Henry Ford by Thomas Maguire & Fhiona Ennis, which I have permission from the artist to reproduce. It also has a music video on my YouTube channel, used with permission.

I am aware that none of the music tracks play all the way through. I will rectify that shortly.

The Happiness Boys (Billy Jones and Ernie Hare) were a big deal. Very popular on early radio.

Ok I have fixed the problem with the music cutting off part way through - the audio files were all damaged if you can believe it!
All sorted now, and I've made some design tweaks too :D

Unfortunately I can't go back that far
The music I added to my website is entirely based on recommendations from MTFCA, and Google research haha!

Nice selection of songs on your list. A little research I'm sure you could find lots more T focused songs.

Whenever I work on the T or A though I just hit my browser and pull up 'Radio Dismuke' and stream 20/30's music.

It's code tinkering time again!
I felt the overhauled music page needed a tweak, so it's not quite so crowded!

You may recall, the songs were just displayed in one, long, continuous list. Not only did this make the page slower loading, it made it harder to discern one song from the next.

So now, the available songs display in a concise indexed list, and play in a popup window when clicked.

I'd love to hear you guys' feedback on this new concept, please :D

New Song Added:
Burr Tillstrom's Kukla and Ollie, introduced by Edward R. Murrow, celebrate the glories of the "Model T" in this live TV musical number from 1953. Thank you for the suggestion Jerry!

The sound quality is surprisingly good, even in the few acoustic recordings. Most of these are electric recordings, and very nicely reproduced.

I have the sheet music for most of those, and another on a player piano roll.

If I am honest, I have enhanced the sound quality with advanced Audio Editing software to try and bring out the best in these old recordings, especially ones from phonograph cylinders.

I have also added another Model T themed song to the playlist: "Model T Love Song" by Perry L. Jackson, although I am unsure what year it was released, cannot find any reference to it anywhere, other than the artist's name. Any help on that score would be greatly appreciated.

Can't say I have seen this --- thank you so much! ... Ok... Now I have some music hunting to do!!

I have tracked down a couple of songs from that list, and they've been added to the play list.
As I track down more music, I will add it to the website.

I have just secured written permission from a North Carolina based group called The Gravy Boys, to share their song "Model T Ford" on my website, it's got a beat and you can dance to it!! Be sure to check out their website too: https://gravyboys.com/

Have a listen to the song: https://www.fordmodelt.net/music.htm
The Gravy Boys hail from Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina and perform Acoustic Americana music that draws deep from the well of our country’s diverse musical heritage. Their high energy shows feature heartfelt vocal harmonies, boot-stomping rhythms, lively stage banter, and honest musicianship.

The Gravy Boys are story tellers who spin their tales through tight, brother-duet vocals over a vintage acoustic backdrop. They take classic American themes and bring them into the present day, with an authentic passion that resonates with all who listen.
