Front End Lubrication
When I rebuild my front ends, I pack the pitman arm ball, and the tie rod ball with old fashioned fiberous wheel bearing grease, but what about the future lubrication? If you wish to remove the ball caps and repack them, good for you. I'm a little bit on the lazy side, so this is what I do. While oiling the oil cups I squirt some oil into the pitman ball area, and the draglink ball too and rock them back and forth. Works for me.

I do the same. And I use chainsaw bar and chain lube. The heavy summer blend.

Bar oil is a good idea. I have good luck with gear oil & if you change the rear end as often as we should save it for that reason, then it's free
& save the bar oil for the chain saw.

The 600wt oil works well for this. Stays put. I use it on gears on my old Craftman lathe. Doesn't fling off.
