Anyone using an other method of payment that PayPal for sales & purchases on the classifieds? Or should I just go back to checks only?
Craig.

Re: PayPal
I’ve sold hundreds of items MTFCA Classifieds requiring only personal checks. Haven’t been disappointed

Re: PayPal
In Canada, I have found using Canada Post Moneygram is excellent. I buy a code number for the purchase value and give it to the US recipient, they go to any Moneygram outlet, (almost any WalMart) with the code and ID to get US cash. A good fresh example is George House I gave him the code and he got the cash at one of his local stores. Look into Moneygram for sending across your country and report back with your findings.

Re: PayPal
While there are several other alternatives to pay or receive funds it takes both parties to subscribe to them. I did see someone offer VENMO.
Checks are about the only other alternative. However any can be fraudulent (Cashiers, Money Order, Postal, Western Union) ) till it clears the bank, usually 3 days or so after its deposited. I highlighted ones I know about.

Re: PayPal
I use (and offer) Venmo cuz I perform weddings on the beach because many of the younger generations use it. But Venmo, like many such, I don't like cuz there's no recall...if something goes wrong that money is gone as far as I know.
I like PayPal due to some of its protections, but most want you to do the friends & family to eliminate fees, but, so goes some of your protections too.
In the end, pretty much everything Ive purchased on this site Ive used either personal or bank certified checks....I don't mind the wait for any check to clear, good for me and the seller. Can't admit to fully buying into all the web financial platforms, too old school & non trusting....
But the cashless society is very quickly moving our way... and don't get me started on that.

Re: PayPal
PayPal to Friends & Family should only be used when you know the other party. With respect to the Forum its easy to recognize frequent users & see how long they have been a member to add some confidence in using PayPal to send them funds & receive items more quickly. Checks take to to be delivered, can get lost in the mail, & the seller should wait till it clears before shipping the item (unless the buyer is known)
I had been asked once if the buyer to use PayPal protection & they would pay the extra fee.
The "extra" fee is dependent on the method (credit card, PayPal Balance, etc) by which the buyer is using as the source of the funds. a Charge of 4% should cover it. In doing this the seller is adding to the possibility of getting a 1099-K form to claim the income. This tax year I think the threshold is $2,500 & nest year $650 unless the administration changes it

I have never had a problem with PayPal in fact I made a claim on eBay for a shipping charge. PayPal gives the seller 30days to respond to a claim. If they don't the claim is paid. eBay ignored the claim & I got paid. Same was true for several other sellers
