Steve Jelf is really missing the party and would like to know if anyone would be able to give him a ride next year.

Dave how far is Steve from us? I'm a couple hours north of you. I'm trying to put together a plan for next year. Car or not, I'd really like to go and see it along with the museum.

Steve lives in Kansas in the south side of the state close to Oklahoma. Pulling my car on a trailer took me 7 hours at about 63mph...........From Algoma you probably want to take the Badger over to Ludington.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Recent OCF posts here and on Facebook have included comments that some old friends missed seeing me. Well, I've missed going and seeing them. Contemplating the situation, I had a couple of thoughts. One is that my days of driving to Michigan in a T are over. Doing that has been a wonderful privilege, but my age and my TBI are telling me it's now unlikely to happen again. My family and friends tell me I shouldn't be driving at all, and given my recent experiences I'm going along with that. I will miss Model T travel, but I don't expect to do it again.

So how could I handle OCF if I can't drive there? I could fly. The Detroit airport is conveniently close to Dearborn, and I expect rental cars are available there. I think flying to Wayne county and renting a car would be a chore I could handle. That leaves only the obstacle of my being retired from driving. An obvious way to get around that would be to take a driver with me. So I have sent a message to some of my local cousins to ask if any of them might be willing and able to go to Dearborn with me for a few days. I also sent them a video showing OCF.

That's where things stand now. The cousins have the introductory video, and I've told them the dates. If somebody volunteers to go, that will clear the way for arranging details like weekend bracelets for two, where to bunk, and so on. With advance notice of almost a full year, I think this could happen.
The inevitable often happens.
