Final engine block serial #

Would anyone happen to know what the final Model T production serial number was in 1927? I have a late '27 block with serial number 15,095,965 and wondered how close to the end of production it was made - or was it perhaps a service replacement block? Thanks for the feedback.

It could be the engine you have was one of those made after 1927. It seems that T engines were made until 1941. There is several posts about the last T engines on the forum and the what the last T that came of the assembly line. But there are different ideas when it happened in 1927.

One other not so obvious check is the head.

The answer to this posting is that it is likely a replacement engine and the frame was "corrected" to match saving some of the original numbers. Obvious the the the last 1 of 1 5 1 is a misfit

McCalley's book lists the last car engine built, the rest are referred as truck engines..... Your engine could have been made in March of 1928

Mike, from the old Encyclopedia list of #'s, your 15,095,965 appears to have been assembled
in April of 1928. The last, #15,176,888, was assembled August 4, 1941.

Thanks for putting a date on it. What I have is a bare block and it looks to be in terrific shape - no ring ridges at the top of the cylinders...needs new babbit, of course. I'm planning to take it to the Pate Swap Meet in Ft. Worth, Texas in late April and try to find a new home for it. I thought it would be nice to have a little history to share about it if someone is interested. Being a late '27 block, it doesn't have the "window" for the accelerator rod to pass between the inner 2 cylinders. I was told that all '27 engines were built that way to accept the Vaporizer carb.

Model T engines don't leave a ridge as the piston goes to the top of the cylinder.

You need to measure all 4 cylinders for taper, and I'd check the valve guides for wear. If it's NOS, you need to know it.

Somewhere I read that TT trucks were assembled way past the date of the last T car on the assembly line. Seems like they were assembled into the Fall of 1927 when the change over to Model A production was in progress. I know this to be true because last year, a local club member sold me a late 27 number block which he said he was told by the person he got it from, came out of a truck. I was hoping the number was near the end of car production, but when I looked the number up, it was way past the last T car number. Months after buying the motor, the club member who sold it to me, asked if he could buy it back, as he had a 27 roadster with no motor. I didn't need the motor desperately and hadn't done anything to it, so I sold it back to him.
