splash guards

Post by Campbell Tellman » Thu Mar 05, 2026 10:10 am

Hey All!
I am about ready to remount the body on the frame of my 1916 Touring car. Do the splash guards just sandwich between the body and frame rails?
Thanks,
Campbell Tellman II

No….. The frame has brackets and the body wood rails have steel brackets. The 4 front body brackets have to mate with 4 frame rail brackets and the 2 rear body brackets have to match the 2 holes in the rear crossmember. The splash aprons ‘sandwich’ between these bracket pairs.

I believe Ford called them splash shields.

to clarify George's point, the splash apron is sandwiched between the body brackets and the frame brackets. Just make sure the holes in the splash apron will line up with the holes in the frame brackets before you fit the body.
