Aluminum Timer Case
I have a friend who has a well used 1915 aluminum timer. Has anyone replaced the innards from a steel case timer into an aluminum case?

I take an Anderson timer, disassemble it and install the innards in a cast iron 1915 timer case. Never have seen an aluminum cased one, but I suspect it would be about the same.

If it is a Ford timer, it is an earlier one. I have one on my 1912 van. Just don't let the fan belt wear a slot in it!

Larry: a new insulation Ring can be made from an old fiber timing gear. This is if the new style timer guts won’t work.

I sent my 1911 aluminum timer to Hutch to install new Anderson contacts.

It was almost 30 years ago that I fitted a True-Fire ignition set-up on my 1912 van, when I got down to just three working Heinze coils. I haven't seen the need to take the timer off since then, but I do know I fitted the True-fire innards to the alloy cover. The maker made a special order unit for me which fitted in the original Heinze coilbox and had contacts made to align with coilbox terminals.
