An Updraft Manifold Used as a Downdraft
Stumbled on this photo was wondering if any ever tried it.
The past is a great place and I don't want to erase it or to regret it, but I don't want to be its prisoner either.

Yes
A friend of mine had a '26 with the remains of a vaporizer exhaust and an upside down manifold. He ran an old leaky carb which used fuel fast enough at speed, but ominously dropped raw fuel onto the hot exhaust when parked. It resulted in little gassy "puffs" of smoke when dripping. Scared me to death.
I would not recommend it under any circumstances without some sort of deflector/heat shield.

Saw a swamp buggy T that used the same exhaust, flipped the intake over and used standard T carb. The gas tank was mounted up high on the firewall.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!
