Cleveland Ohio Oct 30 - 1902
Dear Mr. Ford,
I was very sorry I did not leave the letters for the News & Journal as agreed but wish to assure you it was not intentional on my part. Mr. Couzens tells me Mr. Wills is getting around and I was glad to hear it, hope you will get everything running in good shape at the Shop, so that the work can he pushed with all possible speed. Our salvation for next season will be in getting the machine out quickly and placing it on the market early, it is pleasing that you have been so successful this year in getting the right kind of help.
Mr Couzens and I called at the Shop last week and found quite a Change, it is taking on quite a business aspect anything you may need while
I am away will be attended to by Mr. Couzens, he understands the situation thoroughly. I did not see it myself but am told the Journal did you justice this week. I leave for New York tonight,
remember me to Mr. Wills,
Yours Sincerely,
A. Y. Malcomson

Yes, THANK YOU ROB, for your work on this aspect of the Ford Motor Company. In my opinion, these earlier years are FAR more valuable and critical, than stuff found after the Model T went into production. Once the Model T commitment was made, the future of the company was basically locked on that course. But what happened in the years prior to the Model T are more interesting, and have a greater bearing on the success of the T. What DID happen, and what COULD have happened, were far more determinate to Ford, than the decisions made later in the T era.
