Prest-o-starter for sale

Post by FlyingMerkel » Tue Aug 22, 2023 5:17 pm

I’ve got a nice Prest-o-starter for sale. It’s also on eBay, whichever listing sells first will end the other listing. This starter works by injecting acetylene from a Prest-o-lite tank into your engine, where you can ignite it with a coil. $350 plus shipping

Early Buicks used an acetylene starting system.

I saw a few Model T forum posts showing how you could set it up on a T as well. It would be pretty impressive on a pre 19 speedster

One of the small propane cannisters could be made to serve the same purpose.

Back in the day with bolt on cylinders, too much charge then ignition the cylinders would explode off the crankcase. This system was short lived and quickly forgot with electric starters in 1912, there was no need for the Presto-lite contraption. They are a neat looking device on the dash just beware of the danger.

just sayin,

frontyboy.
