Re-built model T transmission - For Sale

Post by Modeltkc » Wed Sep 13, 2023 1:56 pm

I believe this was intended for our 1925 model T roadster project (please do correct me if you know otherwise)

The transmission is a complete rebuild and was done by Dan Mceachern in Alameda Ca.

Most of the parts were supplied by my father, a few small things supplied by Dan.

This is a complete transmission and has not been installed

Beware, this is heavy, about 80-90 pounds - I am happy to package/crate and ship to someone at the buyers expense. I have a slightly discounted shipping rate with UPS and I also have a shipping cargo account with Alaska Airlines.

Marie, that small drum transmission should weigh around 90 lbs.

Marie, I see from one of your pictures that the transmission has splashers and magnet spools in place of the magnets. Do you know if Dan in his rebuild used one of his transmission pin retainers to keep the pins from backing out ? If you are unsure, you can post a picture of the crankshaft side of transmission, just tip the transmission on its side and have someone take a picture. Dan’s pin retainer is really a nice addition to a T transmission with magnets removed.

Thank you all for the tips - will get the additional photo this evening when I have help - and I agree with the weight of 90 pounds because it is not easy to move LOL

Thank you! Just posted the photos - If it is still missing something I have it around here lol, just have to find it.
I am not versed on transmissions at all.. I can shift them and know when one is mad but I have not built a model T transmission before.

FYI, when Marie's father brought the parts to me for rebuilding, the triple gear pins were already installed as was the ring gear using the magnet spools and bolts you see. I added my oil slingers to ensure adequate oil circulation. The retainer plate could be added if desired. Additionally, every rotating part in this transmission has been dynamically balanced and the tail shaft runout reduced to less than .005".

Also, there is a bag of some extra parts but I do not know what they are, I can take photos of them also.
