WTB - Rebuildable 1926-27 Model T engine block s/n 12222529 or higher

Post by joeoldcars » Sat Jun 29, 2024 8:29 am

Looking to purchase a rebuildable 1926-27 type Model T engine block to replace one on my engine that cracked through coolant cavity into and top of valve gallery. I have obtained 3 so far, cleaned and crack inspected and found all three with cracks around valve seats heading down to the same area that can’t be used or reliably repaired. Goal is to build this into an engine that will get about 1,200 miles per year (not a trailer queen). Possible exchange location is MTFCI Tour in Cadillac Michigan in July 2024.

Yeh that's the problem with 26/7 engines...thats their Achilles heel. I have a 26 block but not sure of the number let alone the viability of it. Once it gets done pouring down rain I'll go to the barn & check. It's sitting under another earlier block and blocked by ju k so you know how that goes! Ha ha

Along time ago, I had a 26 block with the boss, but not drilled! I have a very late 1925 runabout with a 12,000,000 serial number, and as far as I know they used them during the month of July and early August.

I roughed mine up and applied Belzona 1311. I'm running it. All that headache rebuilding, I was determined to make it work. I'm also running water for the summer to allow the interior of the crack to rust.

Steve that stuff is expensive but it’s awesome. Much cheaper than a tear down & rebuild. This stuff is used in the oilfield in high pressure systems & is considered a permanent repair.
JOE DONT WORRY ABOUT THE NUMBER THAT CAN BE FIXED USING YOUR CURRENT NUMBER.
