Yes, Larry Smith is still around, you can contact him via PM to "original_smith" on this site. I don't know if he is currently offering metal battery boxes. You would still have to find an original lid, they aren't reproduced by anyone that I know of.

Adam, you need a metal battery box and the lid with the rounded edges to suit your 22 model. The wooden battery "box' was actually the battery case into which the plates and acid were fitted. Today the battery case is plastic. Between the wooden case and today's plastic ones, the cases were made of hard rubber.

I'm not having the metal lower battery boxes made any more. They were exact copies of the originals. The current offerings are not 100% correct, and will not work with an original top.
