This ad is for the exceptionally rare Buffalo Forge No. 13 bench top drill press, a tool that would look fantastic in your vintage car workshop.
This machine was manufactured by Buffalo Forge sometime in the late nineteen forties, near as I can figure. Other than a bit of surface rust, everything looks great and functions as it should. It runs very nicely and the quill extends and retracts like butter. The electric motor is a vintage Sears Roebuck motor. The Jacobs chuck works great, and there doesn’t appear to be very much run-out at all.
This drill press stands about 30 inches tall and is about 20 inches deep and approximately 10 inches wide.
It does look like the belt guard was cracked sometime in the machine’s history, evidently a relatively common occurrence, but it has been put back together nearly invisibly with some sort of epoxy, probably JB Weld. You really do have to look hard to even see where it was cracked. The drill press paint is shiny black.
This drill press is ready to go to work. This is a very nice machine, and the Buffalo 13’s are scarce as hens’ teeth. You’ll definitely have a rare machine to earn bragging points with in your vintage car workshop.
Because this machine weighs nearly 60 pounds, I would prefer to not have to ship it,and I am willing to meet you within about an hour or so of Cleveland, Ohio, for a pick up. If you’re willing to meet me for the pick up, or just come and get it, I’ll take $75 off the price.
But if you want it shipped, I’ll build a nice crate and that should protect the machine from damage. The motor will ship in a second box.
Email me if you have any questions at all. I have done my best to describe this great drill press as accurately as possible, but I may have made a mistake or left something out.
Asking price is $475.
