I'm surprised to learn that belt lacing and belt lacing tools are still available.

I know several machine shops that have equipment running those belts, and I have the tool, for my own SB lathe

I still have the install tool. That style lacing is usually "Clipper" brand. Most old farm auctions in Arkansas would have the tool and at least one box of the lacing.

I had to make a belt like that for my 1912 Flanders because the fan has a ring around it that prevents you from slipping the fan belt over it. The factory parts manual also shows a link belt. :)

My valve grinder has the same setup, works fine except goes tick every time it goes around. Hitting something, but not enough to worry about.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas!

Not hitting anything Mark...that's the lacing going across a (probably) metal pulley. I have several lathes which operate silently save for the tic-tic...I find it soothing ;)

Scott. My old lathe has a belt with this style lacing. I agree, that the sound the lacing makes is very relaxing. Especially on a cold snowy day in a nice wood heated shop.
