1925 Engine For Sale

Post by J1MGOLDEN » Tue Jul 30, 2024 8:17 am

A complete very low milage 1925 engine, factory stamped with an early February 1925 Build Date and stored for many years. The head was removed and allowed an inspection of the block that showed eight original valves with the two dimples in the top, four original pistons with no wear ridge at the top of the cylinders. An improved head was installed, with a new copper head gasket and most other gaskets were replaced during the inspection process. The transmission lacked a few parts, but has three new demountable bands with new Kevlar linings. A working starter and generator were added, along with a New Old Stock exhaust manifold, a Russ Potter rebuilt carburetor, and a remanufactured 4th Main Bearing. The water pump was not required and the proper inlet and outlet connection was attached. While the test stand is only configured to run an engine in high gear, the pedals were pushed to check their control. The engine started easily and ran great! A short video was produced that can be sent to hear it run. The cost is $2,500 and the engine cannot be shipped.

The engine test stand is also for sale for $1,500 if the engine sells first. This stand was built about 45 years ago by “Shorty” Grapes in West Virgina and sold to me after his heart attack put him out of business. I have taken good care of it and used it often, but now plan to retire and not need it. The radiator was New Old Stock in 1984 and went cross country and back on that tour. There was a mishap a few years ago that took out three tubes, but it does not leak and works fine on the test stand. The Timer and Carburetor are controlled by rods on the right side. The Start button, Bat/Mag Switch, and an original Ammeter are on the left side, along with a Master Disconnect Switch on the 6 Volt Battery that sets on a shelf with four 3 inch casters below. The 1926-27 Coil Box has four rebuilt coils in it and goes with the test stand, and cannot be shipped. Owned by Jim Golden, and located in Bowie, Maryland.
