Top iron needed

WTB For my 12 Touring I desperately need the left rearmost top iron (the iron that angles back) for a straight top iron pre 1917. Mine appears to be beyond repair!
Mine broke about 3 inches from the pivot point.

William sounds like you need the socket not the iron. The iron is what the top mounts to on the body.
I know the voices aren't real but damn they have some good ideas! :shock:

This is the top iron/socket that I need
In the picture this iron/socket would lay in the folded position with this side up. Hard to see the female stacking socket is up. The distance from the top of the iron/socket to the pivot point is 30 inches. I have ground flush and driven out the peened over the pivot pin. I struggled to get this photo from my phone (new phone) to this posting. If anyone thinks they can help please PM or email me with your cell # and I can text additional pictures.

I just measured for comparison the front socket (#1 bow). The right side front socket is the same as the left rear #4 socket except for the male/female stacking hardware, so I could work with a front right side #1 socket. It would require more fabrication to change the stacking hardware.

I have known Mel for years. I know that he did bows but not sockets. I will contact Mel.

I just called Mel, He has what I need!

He made the front left socket for my 12. It fit perfectly.

Hey Ken, you stated that you have some old top mount irons, I need a couple of small top bow mount brkts/studs. I'm re restoring an original 1918 American bodied (American Body Co.) speedster/roadster. I first saw this car in the late 1950s right after it was pulled out of the weeded field along side of the barn that it had been stored in. It originally had a top but the guy that restored it back in the early 60s evidently didn't need a top and or didn't want to spend the money for a top and so removed the top bow mounting studs and bondoed over the holes in the body sheet metal. We found the holes when we bead blasted the body and the screw holes in the wood framing where the stud bracketry was mounted. I found some usable studs and brkts. at a swap meet but somehow they have disappeared, I've searched everywhere, and we're on a roll with the body and need mounting brkts. I was going to make some then saw your comments here and thought....might as well ask. I can't give you much to go on for a description other than small mounting brkt. As I recall the brkt. mounted in the corner where two wood frame pieces come together and I thought the stud was an integral part, not separate, threaded in etc. The stud is of course threaded on the end to accept the cap nut that keeps the top socket mounted in place. Does any of that sound familiar?
