Pat-I have been buying some odd ball taps and screws from Ebay for early racecar carburetors. Hopefully these help. Hope you are doing well.

You can buy one at Home Depo for $7.48 and they ship for free either next day or within a day or two. You can check the internet for other deals.

Al,

I'm fairly certain that the one you can buy at Home Depot is a 1/4-18 NPT tap. In other words, a pipe thread. I am assuming Pat wants a straight thread tap. But, maybe not???

Those are pipe threads. Is that what you want Pat?

Pretty soon home depot will be nothing but a store front. I was in our nearest last week and asked about pipe taps. Answer was "we don't have any in the store, but you can order one and have it delivered" well heck why did I driv e 40 miles to come to your store? I would think a pipe tap would be generic enough home depot would stock it.

What you are looking for is a NPS pipe, straight. It's common on boats for thruhulls ect. If you want to swallow your pride Amazon has it. Just do a search for 1/2-18 NPS tap and you will get many options
